Shaping the future of animal health

Dogs and cats are carnivores!

This fact seems to have been forgotten after millennia of domestication, but dogs and cats remain carnivores nonetheless.

They display all the physical and physiological characteristics (jaws, claws, sensory organs) and especially a digestive system unadapted to metabolising carbohydrates from grain, for example.

Carnivores are perfectly adapted, however, to digesting and assimilating animal protein, which is truly the best guarantee for keeping them healthy.

So, why does commercial dog and cat food contain so much grain?

Grain (maize, wheat...) is listed as the main ingredient in 66% of dog food and 46% of adult cat food along with a very high starch content.

VETERINARY HPM™: new generation food designed for carnivores

VETERINARY HPM™ was formulated to satisfy the nutritional needs of dogs and cats.

A low-carbohydrate, high-protein diet

All VETERINARY HPM™ food is formulated around animal protein as the main source of energy, reducing the proportion of carbohydrates as much as possible.

Compared to main adult dog and cat physiological products sold in the vet channel*:

High-quality animal protein source

VETERINARY HPM™ is formulated with high-quality animal protein source from pork and poultry from Europe and is produced in the Virbac plant in South of France.

Low starch content

Only the minimum starch content necessary is used in making this pet food to achieve an appealing texture.

Naturally appealing...*

In a few decades, dogs and cats, which are both initially carnivores, have had to adapt to diets increasingly rich in starch. Recent studies show, however, that when given the choice, dogs and cats clearly prefer foods with very little carbohydrates and richer in animal protein.

All VETERINARY HPM™ products were tested by cat and dog owners (panel of 1 000 dogs and 600 cats) in order to evaluate the quality and acceptance of every product. The tests were conducted at home, in real conditions during one month.
